Wren   Troglodytes troglodytes

Common breeding resident and scarce passage migrant

·         1892   A specimen collected by Eagle Clarke in November was said to be indistinguishable from the mainland Scotland specimens. However, the birds are on average larger.

·         1973   An estimate of 40 pairs is the highest count. Previous counts normally set the population at 20-30 pairs (Furness, 1983).

The species is not very well documented, other than being logged ‘present’. More data would be most welcome if it is out there!
