Wood Pigeon Columba palumbus

Very scarce breeding (excepting Foula)summer visitor to Shetland and fairly common passage migrant to Shetland in small numbers

· 1977 One, 26^th June.

· 1996 4, on the 10^th, and 3, on the 11^th June.

· 1997 One, 26^th – 29^th Febuary; 1^st March and 23^rd – 24^th March. Birds were seen on numerous dates through June; 4 dates in July. The last record was two on the 16^th October.

· 2003 Seen on occasional dates in all months from March to November, except for July, August and September. All sightings involved one or two birds, except when 4 were noted on the 11^th May, and 3 on the 16^th.

· 2004 One, on the 15^th March.

· 2005 One or two on 20^th – 24^th June.

· 2006 17 on the 31^st March, 20 on the 3^rd April and 22 on the 16^th April one remaining until at least 18^th June. Two birds were present on the 15^th July. A single bird was observed on 4^th October.
