Common passage migrant

The earliest record refers to a pair found breeding in June. The first brood unfortunately failed, but the pair was seen feeding young from a second brood (V & V, in Pennington et al. 2004).

Most birds pass through in May and September. The earliest spring bird was on the 4^th April, 2004. The latest record of a returning bird was on the 14^th – 16^th November, 1970.

Numbers don’t usually stretch far into double figures, although the following maximum numbers have been recorded:
