Regular passage migrant and winter visitor.

Annual visitor to Foula in varying numbers. Mainly on Mill Loch.

The terrain makes access to some water bodies difficult and therefore it is almost impossible to determine how many birds are present on the whole island at any one time.

At least 50 birds have been present on the island in past years – 3^rd – 4^th November, 1996 and mid October, 1997. Usually however, peak numbers range between 10 and 40.
