Common passage migrant and very scarce winter visitor

Most birds are recorded in April, September and October. Spring passage does not usually exceed single figures. It is in the autumn that numbers reach double figures, and occasionally stretch into the hundreds.

A maxima of 800+ birds were recorded on the 2^nd October, 2000, which was a record for the island.
