Sanderling Caladris alba

Jackson (1966) considers the bird as a regular passage migrant on Foula from mid-July onwards, although there are few available documented records to indicate this.

· 1954 20, 8^th September (Jackson, 1966).

· 1995 Two, 17^th and One, 19^th September.

· 2001 Single bird, South Ness, 17^th September.

· 2003 A single bird on 11^th August and another from the 8^th - 12^th September.

· 2004 Two, on the 2^nd September.

· 2005 One, 6^th – 10^th October.
