Robin Erithacus rubecula

Common passage migrant and scarce winter visitor.

Seen in all months, but mainly March to May and September to November.

Counts of spring birds are normally lower than in the autumn, peaking in single figures. It is the autumn passage that can see much larger falls of birds, numbers of which usually peak in October.

• In late October, 1976, 300 birds were documented.
• On the 2^nd October, 1992, 200 birds were on the island.
• On the 2^nd October, 2000, numbers peaked at 200, and remained at around this figure until the 6^th October.
• On the 11^th October, 100 birds were recorded on the island.

There have been a couple of summer records. One on the 25^th June, 1963 and 23^rd – 25^th July, 1969 (Furness, 1983).
