Redwing Turdus iliacus

Very common to abundant passage rnigrant; seen mainly in October; winters in small numbers

A peak count of 15, 000 birds was recorded in 1969 (Furness, 1983) and a record, 25 000 was the peak count between the 10^th and 14^th October, 1991. However, daily numbers in October are generally are between 50 and 2000.

Spring passage is much smaller and numbers don’t peak above 100, although 1000 birds were recorded on 11^th April, 1976.
