Redwing   Turdus iliacus

Very common to abundant passage rnigrant; seen mainly in October; winters in small numbers

 

A peak count of 15, 000 birds was recorded in 1969 (Furness, 1983) and a record, 25 000 was the peak count between the 10th and 14th October, 1991. However, daily numbers in October are generally are between 50 and 2000.

 

Spring passage is much smaller and numbers don’t peak above 100, although 1000 birds were recorded on 11th April, 1976.
