Pied Flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca

Fairly common passage migrant

The first documented record is of one found dead in mid-June 1899 (Pennington et al. 2004).

Migrant birds are recorded from late April/early May into June, and again, from mid August to early October.

Whilst most records pertain to singles or single figures, there have been falls of larger numbers. On the 9^th September, 1995 there was a peak of 20 birds. The following Spring, 25 were recorded on the 19^th May. 15 birds were also noted on the 18^th September 1999.
