Pied Flycatcher   Ficedula hypoleuca

Fairly common passage migrant

 

The first documented record is of one found dead in mid-June 1899 (Pennington et al. 2004).

 

Migrant birds are recorded from late April/early May into June, and again, from mid August to early October.

 

Whilst most records pertain to singles or single figures, there have been falls of larger numbers. On the 9th September, 1995 there was a peak of 20 birds. The following Spring, 25 were recorded on the 19th May. 15 birds were also noted on the 18th September 1999.
