Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis

Scarce passage migrant. Mainly October – November.

First recorded on 1^st November 1895, when a wing was found on the island (Evans and Buckley, cited in Pennington et al., 2004). Only a small number of single birds have been recorded since, the most recent being one off Foula on the 25^th September 1997, which was later seen ashore on the 2^nd October.
