Passage migrant and winter visitor in small numbers

 

The first record for the island was on the 10th May, 1954. Occasional observations were made between 11th August and 26th November (Jackson, 1966).

 

Numbers peak in single – early double figures normally in September and October. The following higher counts have been made:

 

2000       20+ on the 28th – 29th September.

2002   25 on the 12th October.

2004   60+ on the 1st October and 40 on the 3rd.
