Few
documented records. It is a rare breeding summer visitor and common passage
migrant, with a few birds over-wintering occasionally.
There have been a few failed
attempts by this species to breed, in 1969, 1970, 1982 and 2003. The most
recent breeding was by a pair near the school, in 2005, although success is not
known.
Peak counts during autumn
passage have ranged between 50 and 350, but on average the peak is around 90 in
most years.
7 birds are known to have over-wintered
1997/1998.
