Common Scoter Melanitta nigra

Passage migrant and winter visitor in small numbers to Shetland. Most records late winter/early spring. Almost certainly present on Foula more often than recorded

· 1955 6, off coast on the 10^th June.

· 1992 Male, 11^th August.

· 1997 Singles off-shore 27^th April and 25^th May.

· 2003 One, from the 30^th April – 5^th May. Two, on the 24^th May.

I would be very grateful for any other records of this species to fill any gaps for this species
