Common passage migrant with small numbers over-wintering

Occasional small numbers of birds are seen passing through from early April – June.

From mid to late September onwards into early November numbers can occasionally reach double figures, but smaller groups is the norm.

On the 2^nd October, 2000, an exceptional 400 birds were seen (JMD, TPD) which is the largest count for this species to date. Over a two week period from 22^nd September – 6^th October an average of 75 birds were seen daily.
