Common passage migrant with small numbers over-wintering

 

Occasional small numbers of birds are seen passing through from early April – June.

 

From mid to late September onwards into early November numbers can occasionally reach double figures, but smaller groups is the norm.

 

On the 2nd October, 2000, an exceptional 400 birds were seen (JMD, TPD) which is the largest count for this species to date. Over a two week period from 22nd September – 6th October an average of 75 birds were seen daily.
