Blyth’s Reed Warbler   Acrocephalus dumetorum

Rare vagrant from eastern Europe or western Asia

 

·         1993   A possible Blyth’s Reed Warbler was along the West Burn on the 28th September. Everything fitted in field observations for this species and it was strongly suspected. However no measurements could be taken therefore identification could not be conclusive.

·         1998   A very pale ‘Reed-type’ warbler, showing characteristics of Blyth’s Reed Warbler, was observed in Ham on the 23rd and 24th of September.

·         2001   First-winter, Broadfoot, 22nd September to the 1st October. Trapped on the 22nd (JMD, TPD, ARM, MAW et al.) (BB 95: 511).

·         2003   First-winter, in tall grasses around the ruined homestead near the old kirk, Hametoun, 28th September – 8th October (JMD, TPD, ARM, MAW et al.).

·         2004   One, Hametoun Burn, 2nd – 7th October, was trapped on the first date (JMD, TPD, ARM, MAW et al.).

·         2007   Three birds present, one Ham and two Hametoun, on the 5th October (KBS, NDW, PJW et al.).

·         2008   One, 24th September - 1st October.
