Redpoll Carduelis hornemanni

1965 One, 13th – 25th
July, is a very unusual record, but was accepted because ‘the inhabitants of the
island have the habit of catching small birds and releasing them in spring’ (Harber et al. cited in Pennington et al.,
2004).

in July, was never submitted to the BBRC (Furness, 1983).

– 7th September (JMD,

1997 One, 16th October (ARM); One, 25th October (RG,
ARM).

1999 One, of the race, C.h.hornemanni, Brae, Ham, 30th September
(JMD, TPD).

2003 One, on the
2nd October was followed by two on the 5th – 6th.
One of these birds remained until the 1st November (JMD, TPD, ARM,
MAW)

2004 One,
possibly a female of the race hornemanni, 5th – 7th May (RR, SCV et
al.). In the autumn, a hornemanni was on the island from 29th September
to 8th October (PJW, MAM, MGP et al.).

2006 One, of the race Hornemanni,
4th – 14th October (JMD, TPD, KDS, MAW).

2008 One, of the race Hornemanni, 3rd October.

2009 One, of the
race Hornemanni
on the 27th October was joined by another Hornemanni on the 1st October,
and yet another on the 3rd. Two birds were seen on the 4th,
and one bird remained until at least the 7th.
