The garden and hollow running east of the building are worth checking. As is the shallow pool immediately to the west.

 

The openness of the fields, marsh and sea beyond the cliff stacks at this north end of the island give the place a wonderful feeling of isolation (not just a feeling of, more precisely a knowledge of) and a sense of ‘anything can turn up here’ – it may look empty but you will need to tramp the miles to be sure.

Amongst the more unusual species seen are, Garganey, Hobby, Yellow-browed Warbler, Bluethroat, Little Bunting and more than a few probables that got away!
